Swift Building Lofts

Downtown Billings Starts Here!  Keep your eyes and ears tuned in for ongoing and upcoming events in your new neighborhood!

The Swift Building is located in the Old Town Neighborhood of downtown Billings.  Business owners in ‘Old Town’ are working to regain some of the street’s old glory.  New lighting, landscaping and artistic touches are part of a streetscape plan.  Old Town Neighborhood was awarded historic status designation in 2010.  This is key to spurring additional redevelopment efforts in the area.

A new Police Officer has been assigned specifically to the downtown area – including the Old Town District.  He mans the area from the seat of his bicycle while keeping an eye on safety in downtown Billings.  Recently, two more officers have been added to the patrol.

The trains officially became quiet in early July 2009!  A 'Last Blast' celebration was held at the Western Heritage Center and since then, residents and visitors to downtown enjoy a more peaceful experience any time of the day.  A Quiet Zone at all three downtown crossings allow trains to pass through Billings without sounding their horns.  More robust barricades will be installed so that cars and pedestrians cannot attempt to cross once trains approach.

In conjunction with the Business Improvement District, a full time cleaning crew known as the Purple People spruce up the area to help beautify Minnesota Avenue and the Old Town District.

A bridge across the tracks is slated to be installed by the Spring of 2012.  The bridge will span the tracks just south of the Swift Building to create a new connection at 25th Street.
